(NewsNation) — A college athlete’s inspiring story has gone viral as he pursues his football dreams at the age of 58.
Tom Cillo is a freshman defensive lineman for the Division III Lycoming College Warriors.
He joined "Elizabeth Vargas Reports" to discuss his unusual path to college sports and how he's putting his "competitive spirit" to use.
"Plenty of people said I'm crazy, and I kind of have a standard answer. I tell them, 'Well, whether you're 18 or you're 58, you have to have a little bit of crazy and you have to step out on a football field,'" Cillo told NewsNation.
Cillo's untraditional path to college football
Cillo grew up in Williamsburg, Pennsylvania, and attended Williamsport Area High School. He played basketball in high school and signed up to play football but quit inst
