NEWTOWN SQUARE — Justin Ma had tried the bicycle kick plenty of times before, but the ball had never actually found the back of the net.
That changed in spectacular fashion Thursday. Off a long throw-in from Jude Sacks, the Delco Christian junior saw the ball coming into his space and figured he might as well go for it. If he could get the balance right and enough torque, maybe – just maybe – it would work.
It came off perfectly. Ma connected cleanly, the ball zooming past Faith Christian keeper Lorenzo Gori before he had a chance to react. The Delco Christian sideline erupted, the student section went wild, and even members of the football team stormed the turf to celebrate with him.
