A recently fired immigration judge from Annandale, Virginia, says she received her termination notice days before the end of her standard two-year probationary period – and minutes before she had to rule on a case.

The Trump administration says it’s making a dent in the million-case backlog in immigration court. At the same time, almost 130 immigration judges have been fired or have left the bench, union officials said.

Congress just approved funding and is advertising for more judges, which has some advocates questioning why so many judges have been removed.
