EDMONDS, Wash. — It could be a troubling trend at community colleges across the country. Enrollment among international students is down, putting financial pressure on schools already dealing with higher costs.

Nationwide, international enrollment is projected to decline by as much as 30% to 40% this year with survey data showing a 13% dip in postgraduate enrollment for international students for the 2025-26 academic year.

An Edmonds College international student, who asked not to be identified because he's afraid his visa might be revoked for speaking his mind, says international students are nervous, with many staying home because of uncertainties with America's immigration system.
