SEATTLE — When the Seattle Mariners take the field for their first playoff game Saturday, an 11-year-old Little League player from Woodinville will be the first to run the bases.

Everett, a passionate Mariners fan, showed up for his practice runs with some colorful style — sporting a tie-dye M's cap and tie-dye sneakers. On game day he'll make the ceremonial run as part of a wish granted by the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The young baseball player is battling brain cancer.

"We've been on quite the journey since Everett was diagnosed earlier this year," said Corey Hanson, Everett's father. "He's already gone through some really difficult treatments. Every single day is a challenge. So when you get opportunities to have any sort of moment of joy, it's really important."
