FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — Kevin Coe, one of Washington state’s most infamous convicted rapists , was released from civil confinement Thursday after nearly two decades in state custody on McNeil Island, where he had been committed as a sexually violent predator. He served 25 years in prison prior to being sent to McNeil Island.

Coe, now 78-year-old and confined to a wheelchair, was transported by barge from the island to Steilacoom, where he was inside a van that first transported him to be registered as a sex offender.

The van was scheduled to transport him to an adult family home in Federal Way where he will be living.

The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services confirmed that Coe will be living at the Win Win Adult Family Home, located in the Laurelwood area of Federal
