LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The Michigan House of Representatives passed an omnibus budget bill late Thursday night, placing the state one step closer to passing a budget.
The budget must now be passed by the Senate before Governor Whitmer can sign it into law.
The state had until just before Midnight on Tuesday to pass a budget before heading into a shutdown. Lawmakers instead passed a temporary budget that would fund the government for a week.
According to the Michigan legislature, 101 lawmakers voted to pass the bill, eight voted no, and one didn’t vote.
It’s unclear if the Senate will pass the bill tonight. Lawmakers have until Wednesday to pass a budget before a shutdown.
The House’s version of the budget can be found here.
