NEW YORK -- Though there were roadblocks along the way which depleted the depth of the Red Sox, manager Alex Cora hadn’t lowered his expectations when he showed up to work for a decisive Game 3 of this American League Wild Card Series against the rival Yankees.
“The goal was for us to make it to October and have a deep run in October, and make it to the World Series and win it,” Cora said before the game. “You guys have no idea how it feels in that dugout just watching games like the last two.”
However, Game 3 didn’t feel nearly the same for Cora or a team that came undone during a four-run bottom of the fourth inning that sent Yankee Stadium to maximum decibel levels and ultimately led to a season-ending, 4-0 loss for the Red Sox.
