MIAMI, AZ (AZFamily) — The faculty at the Miami Unified School District is working hard to clear debris and clean up classrooms after a devastating flash flood tore through their campuses.

“We know that this is an unfortunate situation, but our kids are resilient,” said Richard Ramos, the superintendent for the Miami Unified School District.

It’s been a week since the torrential storms passed through the Miami-Globe area.

“I saw the custodians putting out sandbags but we didn’t know what was about to hit,” said Ramos, “As soon as I saw the waters seeping through and underneath the door I knew there was a problem and I needed to tend to it quickly.”
