In a development that's stirred discussions across Kerala's educational sector, Changanassery Archbishop Thomas Tharayil has publicly charged State Education Minister V Sivankutty with reneging on his commitments to Christian-managed schools regarding teacher appointments in the general category.

Adding to the controversy, Archbishop Tharayil has insisted that a recent Supreme Court ruling on teacher appointments in Nair Service Society schools should similarly apply to Christian-aided institutions, a point of contention the minister has dismissed.

In a press statement, Archbishop Tharayil expressed bewilderment at what he perceives as the government's obstruction, questioning why previous assurances seem to have been forgotten or disregarded.
