PINEHURST, Texas (KBTX) - You might recognize Doug Pitcock’s name around town on the Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center. Pitcock, who is a former student and longtime A&M supporter, was honored on Thursday morning with a sign unveiling dedicating a portion of State Highway 249 to the class of ’49 Aggie.

“We just thought it was the right thing to do to name after really the greatest road builder in the world and surely in Texas,” said Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick.

Alongside the Lieutenant Governor were Senator Paul Bettencourt and Texas Transportation Commissioner Steven Alvis to unveil the honor.

“It’s a big day, and a big honor to honor a 97-year-old man that built a lot of the infrastructure in Texas,” Alvis commented.
