Two Massachusetts football powerhouses collide Friday night when the Xaverian Hawks (2-1) travel to Lawrence to face the Central Catholic Raiders (2-2) in a much-anticipated nonleague showdown.

The Raiders enter after edging Bishop Hendricken 20-19 last week, while Xaverian looks to bounce back from a 28-20 loss to Springfield Central .

Central Catholic has revenge on its mind after falling to the Hawks 28-20 in last year’s matchup in Westwood. The Raiders will lean on their dynamic junior trio of quarterback Caden Smith and playmakers Drew O’Keefe and Giovanni Giarrusso to try to help change their fortune.
