A RAIL link to Cessnock may have made the cut in the Hunter's new transport blueprint, but Regional Transport Minister Jenny Aitchison warns it won't happen overnight.
The Newcastle Herald reported on Friday, October 3, that the state will funnel investment into regional transport as most areas away from the major corridors lack adequate access to get around.
The Hunter Strategic Regional Integrated Transport Plan identifies new ferry services, extra train routes, and improved public transport to Newcastle Airport as priorities in addressing the shortfall.
Formally launching the "living document" at Speers Point on Friday morning, Regional Transport Minister Jenny Aitchison tempered hopes that the Cessnock line's inclusion in the plan put it firmly on the agenda.
