Those of us involved with Lake Erie drinking-water treatment didn’t need to wait long to feel the effect of the government shutdown. An email from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NOAA/NCCOS) informed us Tuesday of the suspension of their services for Lake Erie dead-zone events, information water-treatment operators have relied upon.
