After suffering a disappointing loss to Emma Navarro at the 2025 China Open, Iga Swiatek revealed she was the victim of hateful comments on social media.

The World No.2 was fighting for a quarterfinal spot in Beijing, as she hoped to reclaim the title she won in 2023. Swiatek had looked unstoppable during her first two matches, recording a bagel in each encounter prior to her meeting with Navarro.
