Before we get to those 250 shrink-wrapped blank Maine ballots that were just mysteriously found in an Amazon box delivered in Penobscot County, let’s talk about what may be the biggest attempted public heist in Massachusetts’ sordid history.

I refer to the recent turmoil over the service-plazas contract on the Mass Pike. A local company named Global offered the state $1.5 billion for the contract. Some foreigners and Democrats offered $600 million.
