“People will stop us in the lobby at the courthouse and ask for help. A woman is crying in the corner, probably waiting for the results of her [domestic violence protection order]. We'll often stop and talk to her,” Brittany Leavitt said.

Leavitt is one of the victim advocates of Kanawha County, also called victim service coordinators.
