The annual “The Trash Show — Hawaii Artists Recycle” will be held at the Wailoa Art Center in Hilo today through Oct. 30.

This is a celebrated exhibit of reused and recycled materials created by over 100 Hawaii Island local artists.

Opening reception will be from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. tonight and will feature a “Trash Art Couture Fashion Show” by Robin Worley.

For over 30 years, Hawaii Island artists have been recycling trash into works of art. The founder and juror for this exhibition is Ira Ono, the director of Volcano Garden Arts and a longtime artist himself.

“These shows become more important and relevant with the global situation that we find ourselves in,” Ono said in a news release. “Once again, artists can be vanguards of positive change for our island and planet.”
