The United States Postal Service is temporarily changing its prices for the holiday season.

The agency stated that the price adjustments are being implemented to help cover additional handling costs and ensure a successful peak season, according to a news release .

The prices were approved by the governors of the Postal Service, the agency’s governing body, on Aug. 7.

The hikes will affect Priority Mail Express (PME), Priority Mail (PM), USPS Ground Advantage, and Parcel Select.

No other products or services will be impacted, the agency said, noting it continues to have some of the lowest mailing rates in the world and offers great values in shipping.

The move is a strategic part of USPS’s 10-year plan to create a revitalized organization, the agency said.
