DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- Saturday was the final day for Durham voters to cast their ballots early in the municipal primary election.
The top two candidates in the races for mayor and three city council seats will advance to the general election next month.
In an off-year election, the parking lot was mostly empty to start the last day of early voting before Durham's election on Tuesday.
But for those canvassing at the polls, they said those who have shown up are often the ones paying the most attention.
"And so, I think it's important that, you know, we embrace the growth that the city is having. But, you know, as a lifelong term resident myself, you know, I want to, you know, keep Durham, you know, what makes it special," said Thomas Adams, a canvasser.
