“In Alabama, football is politics ,” writes my AL.com colleague, Kyle Whitmire.
Whitmire makes the point that former Auburn football coach Tommy Tuberville is a sitting U.S. Senator and the heavy favorite to be Alabama’s next governor.
Meanwhile, pollsters have tested former Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron’s name for a run for lieutenant governor, and sports talk show host Paul Finebaum is contemplating a run for Tuberville’s U.S. Senate seat.
In this one-party red state, Alabamians could be pondering their votes for a former football coach, a former football player and a football talk show guy.
