DENVER (KDVR) — A report of possible animal cruelty near Salida in late August has led to a woman facing a half dozen charges, the Chaffee County Sheriff's Office reported Thursday.

On Aug. 27, Chaffee County Deputy Bryant Young was sent to a home west of Salida after the dispatch center received an anonymous report of possible animal cruelty occurring at the residence.

The sheriff's office said that when Young arrived, he found three puppies and two chickens dead on the property. Two other puppies were found on the property, along with an adult dog. Bryant said that none of the dogs had any access to food or water.

Because of the poor living conditions, the deputy confiscated the three surviving dogs.
