BARRE, Vt. —

A substitute teacher in Barre has been cited after police said she admitted to bringing narcotics into the classroom.

The Barre Town Police Department said officers were called to the Barre Town Middle and Elementary School on Wednesday for an adult reportedly under the influence of drugs.

A woman who asked to go by her first name, Brittany, is the mom of an 8th grader who was in the substitute teacher's class.

Brittany said she didn't learn about the incident until her son got off the bus after school Wednesday.

"He looked visibly shaken and upset and I asked what had happened today and he said that his substitute teacher was clearly on drugs and was acting crazy. Those were his exact words," she said.
