The Department for Work and Pensions has introduced new "measures" to stop people claiming benefits fraudulently. The Labour Party government has issued a response after being grilled by Sir John Hayes in the Commons.

Hayes, a Conservative Party MP for South Holland and The Deepings, reached out in the Commons "to ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what steps she is taking to tackle people fraudulently claiming Personal Independence Payments."

Labour MP Andrew Western, for Stretford and Urmston, issued the reply. Mr Western said: " DWP is committed to tackling fraud and error in the benefits system and to the recovery of debts, including those generated by Personal Independent Payments.
