Massachusetts’ stretch of warm, dry weather will hit its peak this weekend before a sharp shift ushers in cooler, wetter conditions more typical of mid-autumn.

While some residents got an early taste of next week’s chill Friday morning, with temperatures dipping into the upper 30s and 40s, daytime highs are expected to rebound into the mid 60s and 70s statewide, according to the National Weather Service.

Skies will remain dry and clear into Friday evening as temperatures dip back down into the mid 40s and 50s, about 10 degrees warmer than Thursday night, forecasters said.

Saturday is likely to be the first of several days with high temperatures in the upper 70s to mid 80s — about 15 degrees above average at this time of year — and residents may feel a slight uptick in humidity.
