A patient reportedly went missing from Bhima Bhoi Medical College in Bolangir district. Family members claimed the patient vanished from the surgery ward on Thursday night.

Tension escalated in the hospital after the family filed a missing complaint. The patient, Pratap Behera, hails from Haralanga village in Kalahandi district. He was admitted last Sunday with burn injuries caused by hot water.

Family members accused the hospital of not informing police for 14 hours. They demanded answers from the authorities regarding the delay in reporting. Medical Superintendent Dr. Manasi Panda responded to the allegations. She stated the patient escaped around 1 AM while his son was asleep. The hospital promised to provide further details after internal review.
