Swimming in dangerous waters with talk of fascism

As citizens of this nation, each of us has a duty to hold our government officials accountable. It is not always easy. In this year where we are especially remembering and celebrating the words and the meanings from the Declaration of Independence, we must continue to acknowledge the responsibilities we, as citizens, have in a republic.

One danger which is apparent in our current culture is the overuse of the word “fascism.” When individuals want to criticize the actions of government officials, or the government as a whole, that word comes up way too frequently — as well as references to Nazism; another kind of fascism.

Yes, it is important to call out the injustices of any government, and there are things the current Trump administration is doing which leads way too fa
