Kyle Griffith may have been born in 1999, but he feels just as much at home in the 18th century.
The 25-year-old native of Dry Fork is often spotted wearing period civilian clothing at historic sites like Yates Tavern. He’s also part of a living history group with members much older than him.
Griffith, now living in Fredericksburg after college, is immersed in learning and chronicling history’s untold stories through articles and books. He’s hoping to find a position closer to home that will allow him to be a part of preserving the past.
“I don’t want to stay in Fredericksburg,” he told the Register & Bee in a phone interview last month.
“While I’m living here, I’m mentally staying in Pittsylvania County,” he said. “I’m researching it every day.”
