WASHINGTON — Three Alabamians nominated to federal judgeships advanced out of the Senate Judiciary Committee Wednesday.

The nominees are now one step closer to getting sworn in. President Donald Trump nominated Alabama Solicitor General Eddie LaCour, Alabama Supreme Court Associate Justice Bill Lewis and attorney Hal Mooty to district court appointments in August. U.S. Sens. Katie Britt and Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., backed the nominations.
