MEDFORD, Ore. — A suspect who recklessly fired a handgun and struck multiple houses and unoccupied vehicles in a neighborhood on North Ridge Terrace in south Medford, 24-year-old Chase Benjamin Smith of Medford, was taken into custody on Wednesday night.
Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies responding to a large number of ESCO calls for a man walking down Northridge Terrace, shooting a gun on Tuesday at 10:32 PM, learned that dispatchers had heard gunshots in the background while taking the calls. One caller reported the window of their residence being shot out.
After finding Smith in an apartment in the 60 block of Northridge Terrace, deputies took him into custody without incident. Acting on a search warrant, deputies also recovered the firearm used in the incident.
