Srinagar, Oct 03: First-ever automobile freight train successfully reached Kashmir, unloading 116 vehicles at Anantnag on October 3.
The train, dispatched from Manesar, Haryana, covered over 850 kilometers in 45 hours, marking a significant improvement in the region’s freight connectivity and reducing transport costs.
Previously, vehicles were transported via road, leading to longer transit times and higher costs. This development is expected to benefit automobile dealers and consumers by ensuring year-round vehicle availability, mitigating weather-related transport disruptions.
Additionally, the introduction of the Vande Bharat train service is anticipated to further enhance connectivity in the Valley.
