A Florida mother is suing a Bradenton hospital for $100,000 , claiming delayed care led to her leg being amputated due to misleading information that the hospital offered 24/7 emergency vascular surgery services.

On July 2, 2024, Hailey Van Dam, of Palmetto, suddenly lost feeling in her legs while cleaning her daughters' dance studio. The mother of three was rushed to Manatee Memorial Hospital , located in downtown Bradenton on the Manatee River that flows into the Gulf — the nearest medical center believed to have 24/7 vascular surgeons.

EMS personnel determined that Van Dam suffered from a blocked artery that prevented blood flow to both her legs, and she would need immediate emergency surgery within six hours to restore blood flow.
