A developer has purchased the shuttered Butler Elementary School building in Westwego after Jefferson Parish's plan to buy the property and turn it into a community center fell through last year.
Jefferson Parish School Board members on Wednesday unanimously approved a bid from TGWB 3, LLC, a Marrero-based real estate development company, to buy the lot for $450,000, which is $50,000 above asking price, board documents show. The company has not publicly announced its plans for the site.
The 102-year-old building has sat empty since 2023, when it was one of six campuses the district closed as part of a restructuring effort due to declining student enrollment.
