The Steelers’ game at Croke Park wasn’t the only event in Ireland last weekend to draw a Pittsburgh crowd.

The day before the team’s win against the Minnesota Vikings, Pittsburgh business leaders and state officials packed a conference room in Downtown Dublin, joined by their Irish counterparts for a networking event.

For some, the gathering capped off a week of site-visits to Irish companies and meetings aimed at spurring new foreign investment in Pittsburgh.

The Steelers, well-known around the world, provided an opportunity for officials to “sell the region” — pitching Pittsburgh’s strengths in tech, healthcare, manufacturing and life sciences to Dublin’s business community, said Matt Smith, chief growth officer at the Allegheny Conference on Community Development.
