Authorities are investigating the death of a girl who drowned in Oakland Park on Friday morning.

Broward Sheriff's Office officials said deputies responded to reports of a drowning near the 4100 block of Northwest 16th Avenue just before 9 a.m.

The deputies found the girl, who was unresponsive and was pulled from a nearby body of water.

She was given life-saving measures as she was rushed to a local hospital, but officials said she was later pronounced dead.

Her identity hasn't been released.

The circumstances surrounding her death remain under investigation.
