NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - North Charleston Police say a 20-year-old man has been charged in a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian Thursday night.

Julio Cupil Quijivix, 20, is charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death, police said.

The crash happened shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Dorchester Road at Foxwood Drive.

Police said the pedestrian struck in the crash died at the scene.

The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the victim’s name.

Quijivix surrendered to authorities at around 11 p.m. Thursday night in connection with the crash, police said.

He was being held in the Al Cannon Detention Center.
