(KRON) -- Police in Gilroy are investigating what they call a “suspicious death” after officers located a deceased person in a creek earlier this week, authorities said Friday.

Gilroy Police Department dispatchers received a call around 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday regarding a body that had been found near East Sixth Street and Camino Arroyo. Officers arrived on scene and confirmed that the person, who was in a creek behind a business along Camino Arroyo, was deceased.

“An autopsy report is pending, as is the identification of the individual,” Gilroy PD said.
