Authorities are warning swimmers to stay alert after more bull sharks were spotted near the old Fremantle traffic bridge.

Surf Life Saving WA said a member of the public reported a school of 2m bull sharks, just 30m offshore, about 9.50am on Friday.

The City of Fremantle has since closed several beaches along the western end of the Swan River.

The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development urged swimmers and boaties should take “additional caution”.

“Beach users should adhere to beach closures advised by Local Government rangers,” a spokesperson said.

“It is possible that the frequency and duration of the recent reported sightings may increase the likelihood of encountering a shark in the area.”
