A Riverside man is behind bars after he allegedly stabbed his father to death during a mental-health crisis.

Crispin Rendon, 74, was found suffering from multiple stab wounds in the driveway of a home in the 3400 block of Bahia Place just after 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, the Riverside Police Department said in a news release.

He died from his wounds at a local hospital.

Rendon's suspected killer is his son, 36-year-old David Rendon, who engaged in a two-hour standoff with police before eventually surrendering.

"The preliminary investigation indicates the suspect may have been experiencing a mental health crisis when he attacked and stabbed Mr. Rendon multiple times," police said.
