A video circulating on social media showing a man taking a shower in the waterfall display outside Niagara Falls city hall has garnered thousands of views.
Mayor Jim Diodati said the city does not condone such actions.
“I know there’s been people washing their hands … or kids playing in the water,” he said.
“We don’t condone, or we would not allow, bathing in the city’s fountain in front of city hall.”
Diodati said he doesn’t know if the man is unhoused, but if he is, there is public access to showers at the Gale Centre.
“I get it, people need showers and some days it’s hot, you want to cool off, but we offer free showers at city facilities for the unhoused,” he said.
