A routine animal call turned into an unusual traffic problem today when Jones County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Lou Lowe encountered a non-compliant reptile in the 200 block of Monarch Road.
According to the sheriff’s department, the four-legged trespasser — an alligator — ignored repeated commands and continued strolling down a resident’s driveway before crossing the roadway. The gator then disappeared into tall brush and trees near a pond reported to be in the area.
Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks game wardens were notified and responded to search for the alligator.
The sheriff’s department jokingly said that a Jones County deputy’s life is rarely boring.
