Hartlepool MP Jonathan Brash has heaped praise on his wife as she takes over the reins as new leader of Hartlepool Council. Hartlepool Labour Group has announced a change in leadership of Hartlepool Borough Council after Cllr Brenda Harrison decided to step away from the role.

Cllr Pamela Hargreaves, wife of Hartlepool MP Jonathan Brash, has been appointed to the role and was congratulated by her husband. Mr Brash said: "I served as Councillor Brenda Harrison's deputy for three years and it was my honour to do so. She’s a kind, decent and moral person who has served my party and the town with distinction. Thank you Brenda.
