Terrorist Jihad Al-Shamie was on bail for rape when he attacked a UK synagogue on Yom Kippur, according to reports.

The 35-year-old Syrian-born killer was under investigation for a sex crime committed earlier this year when he plowed his car into worshippers and went on a stabbing spree outside the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Manchester on Thursday, The Guardian reported .

It is not clear when the rape took place, but it was being investigated by Greater Manchester Police — one of a number of crimes he is thought to have committed, a source said. 5

“He was on nobody’s radar for terrorism, but he definitely had a criminal record, though nothing to suggest he was going to do anything like this,” a police source told the Guardian.
