GOODYEAR, Ariz. — Multiple dogs were recently removed from a West Valley home following an investigation into alleged animal abuse.

The Goodyear Police Department said 50-year-old Stephen Hunter has been taken into custody after six dogs were removed from a local residence and taken to a veterinary hospital for care.

The investigation was reportedly prompted by a "disturbing" video circulating online, appearing to show animal cruelty, Goodyear police said.

The police investigation remains ongoing.
