BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A teenager is facing charges in connection with an armed robbery turned shooting.

According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, officers arrested Jamal McKenzie, 17, on Thursday, Oct. 2, and booked him into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for armed robbery and attempted first-degree murder.

The charges stem from a shooting that happened on Staring Lane near the Southlawn Drive intersection on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 1.

Arrest documents state that McKenzie forcefully pushed a person off an electric scooter and tried to leave the area, but the victim confronted him about it once he was back on his feet.
