DES MOINES, Iowa —

The passenger in a stolen vehicle involved in a crash on Des Moines' south side has been transported to a local hospital.

According to a news release, police and fire crews responded around 1:30 p.m. to the intersection of E. 14th Street and Des Moines Street to investigate the crash, which involved three vehicles.

"Witnesses reported that the driver of the stolen (Kia Optima) was driving westbound on Des Moines Street and failed to yield the right of way to southbound traffic on E. 14th Street," police said. "The stolen vehicle then crashed into a southbound passenger car, and then (an) eastbound truck that was stopped at the stop sign."
