LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
More than a month after Cigna terminated its contract with Norton Healthcare, the two sides have reached an agreement to keep patients covered.
Following the initial termination announcement, in-network coverage for Cigna users was set to run out on Sept. 8.
Norton announced on Sept. 7 they would allow Cigna patients to keep receiving in-network benefits until Oct. 1.
The two sides reached on agreement on Oct. 1 to ensure patients with Cigna will remain in-network when receiving care from Norton.
"We appreciate the community’s patience throughout this process. Our focus remains on providing uninterrupted access to high-quality care," Norton said in a news release.
Norton and Cigna did not release specifics about the new contract.
