A team of Gujarat High Court judges, including Justice A S Supheia, Justice Ilesh J Vora, Justice R G Mengdey and Justice P M Raval, arrived in Surat on Friday to examine the government poultry farm land situated near the existing district court complex that has been proposed by lawyers for development of a new court building.
The judges were accompanied by HC’s Registrar General, S D Suthar.
For the last few years, the Surat District Bar Association has been demanding new land for the court complex, stating that the present space is “cramped” and “insufficient”.
The Surat district Collector had already allotted government land at Jiyav Budiya village for the purpose but the lawyers opposed it. The association claimed that the area is quite far from the city and faces pollution woes.
