Flames lose Ilya Solovyov to Avalanche; Rory Kerins clears waivers

Rory Kerins cleared waivers.

Ilya Solovyov, however, was claimed by the Colorado Avalanche.

That means the Calgary Flames are losing a 25-year-old defenceman who had been pushing for NHL playing time and played five NHL games last season.

Goaltender Ivan Prosvetov also cleared waivers.

Much of the focus over the past 25 hours had been on Kerins, the 23-year-old centre who had scored a goal and added three assists in six pre-season games for the Flames after a breakout season with the Wranglers last year. He’ll be re-joining his AHL teammates.
