Despite ongoing drought conditions, peak fall foliage is visible throughout northern and western Maine.

According to this week’s fall foliage report, peak foliage has set in throughout the Allagash, the North Maine Woods and a majority of northern Aroostook County. Foliage in these areas, and throughout parts of western Maine, is still developing and continuous color development is expected.

“While we are seeing peak conditions in northern Maine and high color in portions of the western mountains, colors are still emerging daily in central and coastal regions,” said Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry foliage spokesperson Gale Ross.
